Since the publication of volume 3 in 1982 there has been a revival of research on magnetism and a pronounced increase in interest from both the scientific and the technological side. Volume 5 therefore contains chapters that provide the reader with an insight into modern trends in magnetism and new achievements in this area. The topics dealt with here include the increased activity and investigations of the magnetism of magnetic superconductors and investigations of the magnetic properties of hydrides, the understanding of first-order magnetic processes and of quadrupolar interactions in 4f systems and their role in magnetic ordering and magneto-elastic effects, and the magnetism of strongly enhanced itinerant alloys and compounds and the magnetism of Invar alloys.

This second edition has been brought up to date by the inclusion of an extensive new chapter on aspects relevant to high-temperature superconductors. The new edition provides researchers, engineers and other scientists with an introduction to the field and makes useful supplementary reading for graduate students in low-temperature physics.

{NOTE: This booklet is not intended to help perpetuate male and female stereotypes but rather to poke fun at gender generalizing itself! THERE IS A DIFFERENCE between them and hopefully readers will recognize that difference. At the same time, the book is intended to bring a laugh to the reader.} DEDICATION: To the many single guys out there who know a good book about attracting babely chicks when they see one (that's pronounced "babe-lee" for future reference - meaning a superdy-duperly good looking chick). Please! No female readers!...Well, I guess it's okay if you're already married or going steady or if you are passing the information on to your sons or brothers. DISCLAIMER: It is highly recommended that wives not buy this book containing over 3,000 words, for their husbands. This is a "single man's guide" and I, Percyvelle Pennington the Third, will not be held responsible for any undesired results that might occur, should this ebook make its way into the wrong hands! Thank you. Table of Contents: CHAPTER ONE - Tell Chicks Who You are Interested in, that You are an Heir to the Bill Gates Fortune CHAPTER TWO - Tell Your Babely Love Interest that You are a Cousin to Elvis Presley or Some Other Male Sex Symbol CHAPTER THREE - Convince Chicks that You are Sensitive and In Touch with Your Feminine Side CHAPTER FOUR - Make Sure that They See You are Athletic and Demonstrate Your Manly Bravery to Them CHAPTER FIVE - Prove to Your 'Attractee' that You are Not Still Dependent on Your Mother WARNING: Please use your newly-gained male prowess in a responsible manner because I will not be held responsible for the many broken hearts you are about to cause in your own community (in addendum to the previous "DISCLAIMER")! ________________________________________**The History Behind these Comedy/Satire Books: While my largest base of book titles are on health disorder subjects, I also have a significant number of business-related titles published, as well as many on Christian Bible theology. Some people may believe that an author who writes on serious subjects, should not write comedy books because this can discredit them to an extent. Why would this be the case? Should readers rather believe that serious subject writers like myself, who write on subjects such as Christian faith, cannot display the very human trait of a sense of humor? On another point I would mention that with these short humor books, I am also throwing the comedy at controversial subjects, which helps to quell the negative rhetoric they often produce (i.e. exaggerated male and female stereotypes, reviewer and author wars and evolution versus creationism). A "cheerful heart is a good medicine" according to the Holy Bible, and "laughter is the best medicine" according to Reader's Digest. My thoughts were, that if I could take a few serious or controversial subjects and create a little comedy from them that makes people smile or laugh, it would be something worth publishing. With the debates going on within these subjects, between people expressing the pros and cons of them, it is my hope that I can lighten the rhetoric a bit by injecting some humor into them. These booklets ARE NOT intended to offend anyone and if you'll notice, I make fun of everyone in them, via my alter writing personalities -- "Percy P. III" and "Fredrick Doyle Wimberley". It is my hope that readers find the medicine of laughter and cheer within the pages of them, so that they can escape the stressors of life for just a little while!

The Diary Of A Superfluous Man And Other Stories

Ivan Sergeyevich Turgenev (1818-1883) was a great Russian novelist and playwright. His novel Fathers and Sons is regarded as one of major works of 19th-century fiction. After the standard schooling for a child of a gentleman's family, He studied for one year at the University of Moscow and then moved to the University of St Petersburg, focusing on the classics, Russian literature and philology. Turgenev was impressed with German Central-European society, and believed that Russia could best improve itself by imitating the West. Like many of his educated contemporaries, he was particularly opposed to serfdom. He first made his name with A Sportsman's Sketches, also known as Sketches From a Hunter's Album; or, Notes of a Hunter. He wrote several short novels like The Diary of a Superfluous Man, Faust and The Lull. In them Turgenev expressed the anxieties and hopes of Russians of his generation. Amongst his other works are Liza: A Nest of Nobles, The Jew and Other Stories, On the Eve, A Reckless Character and Other Stories, The Torrents of Spring, and The Rendezvous.

The Magnetocaloric Effect And Its Applications

RRP $520.99

The magnetocaloric effect describes the change in temperature of a magnetic material under adiabatic conditions through the application or removal of an external magnetic field. This effect is particularly pronounced at temperatures and fields corresponding to magnetic phase transitions, and it is a powerful and widely used tool for investigating the magnetic state and mechanisms of these transitions. Recently, there has been significant interest in its possible exploitation in magnetic refrigeration and cryocooling systems.
The Magnetocaloric Effect and its Applications presents a complete overview of theoretical and experimental research results surrounding the magnetocaloric effect, and a comprehensive discussion of current and potential applications of the phenomenon. The book reviews those materials with magnetic moment both of band and localized nature and various types of magnetic ordering. It also considers materials with more exotic magnetic structures, and gives a detailed discussion on experimental and theoretical studies of a great number of rare earth magnetic materials, with emphasis on the physical interpretation of observed phenomena.
